Finding a Meaningful Pace

As Culinary Director at The Westbury Senior Living, I approach each day with passion—not just purpose. I face new challenges, hear new stories, and always find fresh reasons to feel grateful. I’m excited to share how I arrived in this role, what fuels my dedication, and what a typical day looks like in our community. My work goes beyond preparing meals—it centers on building connections, creating purpose, and making a real difference where it counts.

I stepped into the role of Culinary Director in senior living to embrace a slower, more meaningful pace. After working in the high-pressure restaurant world, I craved time to be with my grandpa and wanted to work in a setting where I could truly make a lasting impact.

My time at Cheddars prepared me well. I managed everything from repairs and billing to both front and back of house operations, including HR. That experience taught me how to lead with flexibility and precision. Now, focusing entirely on culinary leadership feels like a true gift.

Building Connection, One Meal at a Time

What I enjoy most about working in senior living is the time I get to spend with residents. Hearing their stories adds joy and depth to my day. Each morning, I make it a point to greet every team member by name. That small gesture opens the door to conversation and helps everyone feel seen and valued.

For those considering a culinary career in this field, I offer this advice: it’s incredibly rewarding. Creating meals and moments residents genuinely enjoy brings a deep sense of purpose.

Redefining Success

To me, success means seeing my team happy. When the staff feels supported and looks forward to each day, I know we’re doing something right.

At the end of the day, I take great pride in contributing something meaningful—whether it’s a favorite dish, a heartfelt conversation, or a comforting moment. Thank you for welcoming me into your community and allowing me to serve at your table. I’m truly honored.
