It’s important to debunk these myths to promote a better understanding of memory care by providing accurate information to help families find the right level of care at the right time for their loved ones.
Living in Memory Care Neighborhoods does not take away the independence of those living with dementia. Our residents can thrive through daily routines and engagement. Our Neighborhoods are not boring or impersonal. Through daily events, residents are kept active and engaged, helping them to continue to feel involved and purposeful.
Memory Care is often associated with older adults; however, dementia and cognitive disorders can affect individuals at younger ages as well. Our Neighborhood is here to serve anyone in need. Memory Care staff are trained to provide day-to-day supervision, support, and guidance in a safe environment. Supervision, guidance, and support can be very effective at lowering stress and help in improving residents’ quality of life. There is always an adjustment period when they first move in, but in the long run residents do improve and function better in a Memory Care setting.
