Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful Westbury Senior Living community and services.
As a state surveyor, I witnessed a critical need for a more compassionate and person-centered approach to senior care. I advocated for policies aimed at enhancing the quality of care and improving the overall well-being of seniors, inspired by recognizing this need.
Every day, I encounter the invaluable wisdom, resilience, and unique stories that older adults bring to our community. Building meaningful connections, providing compassionate care, and being a source of support for aging adults and their families are deeply rewarding. Motivated by the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, preserve their dignity, and contribute to their overall well-being, I continue to serve them with dedication and compassion.
One prevalent myth is the loss of independence. Senior living communities offer a range of services designed to enhance and preserve independence. These services include opportunities for socialization, engagement in activities, access to quality healthcare, and maintenance-free living arrangements.
We help residents acclimate to their new surroundings by introducing them to fellow residents and staff and guiding them around the community. Facilitating these connections early allows residents to establish a sense of belonging and security within the community. They witness firsthand how others utilize available support and services to maintain their independence, fostering reassurance. This approach not only eases the transition process but also fosters a supportive and inclusive environment. Here, residents can thrive and feel empowered in their new home.
I hope you found this helpful, and I encourage you to share it with others because here at Arrow, we are committed to reshaping the perception of senior living! Search #whatseniorlivinglookslike, and you will find so many great things that happen in our community every single day.
