Refreshing the Community

Category: Uncategorized

Author: Dan Jacob, Plant Operations Director

As spring arrives, our team turns its attention to one of the most visible parts of our community: landscaping. Beautiful grounds do not happen by chance. They come from thoughtful planning, seasonal preparation, and steady attention to detail.

After winter, I take a proactive approach to refreshing our outdoor spaces. My goal is to keep them visually appealing, safe, and enjoyable for residents. As the Plant Operations Director at The Westbury Senior Living, I focus on the steps that help our community look its best each spring.

Walking the Campus

For our spring refresh, my team walks the campus with Arrow Leadership and our property managers. Together, we identify areas that need updates or repairs.

We prioritize projects that enhance curb appeal. We also focus on outdoor spaces that give residents the most enjoyment and function.

One recent seasonal project brought our directors together to refresh the Memory Care courtyard. The team cleaned the space thoroughly and restored the courtyard fountain.

Residents were able to enjoy the area again that very afternoon.

We also maintain an excellent partnership with our landscaping team. They respond quickly to our needs and provide strong follow-up support after spring cleanup and refresh efforts.

Planning Ahead

During spring startup, we test fountains and water aerators early in the season. This proactive approach helps us identify maintenance concerns and address repairs before they become larger issues.

Looking ahead to next season, I plan to add more outdoor furniture to the front of the Independent Living building. This addition will require more setup time, so we are already preparing to adjust our process. Our goal is to have everything ready for residents to enjoy as early as possible.

It is easy to see the finished product, but real success comes from teamwork. Coordination, accountability, and pride help bring each project together. These efforts ensure The Westbury Senior Living continues to meet the standards residents expect while setting the tone for the months ahead.
